Introducing Firefly Mini

(Part 2 of our blog post on Firefly Mini is out. Click here to read it.)

Two years ago we launched our groundbreaking smart bike light, the Lumos Firefly which became the first bike light of any kind to raise over $1,000,000 on Kickstarter.

To round out and grow our line of smart lights, we flipped things around, and thought smaller.

Mini: Smaller and Low Profile

With the Firefly Mini, we set out to to provide you with a cleaner, more refined aesthetic look that minimalists would love.

The result: A smart bike light in a svelte 0.57" x 0.87" (14.5mm x 22mm), weighing in at a petite 0.53oz (15g).

Mini: A World of Versatility

Another thing we got feedback on with Firefly, was that its size limited its use to just cycling.

Could we make a light that could be used for other sports as well, like running or even walking your dog?

Yes!

With the Firefly Mini, we set out to make it super flexible and versatile.

as a bike light

as a helmet light (Ultra Fly Pro)

as a running light

as a backpack light

Mini: Smart as Ever

We wanted to make all that happen with Mini while keeping all the awesome smart features that people loved from Firefly. Our engineers had their work cut out for them, to cram all that technology in a package half the size of Firefly, but they made it happen!

Doubletap to sync flashing pattern - works with our current helmets as well!

I can replace my 2 Fenix E-Lite clips that I velcro to the main tube for each side of my bike for side illumination plus 1 for the front attached dead center sideways to the stem where an awful Kryptonite is. I hope you make a velcro strap that will hold 2 like I do for the Fenix. I will prepay for 3 now!!!

Would there be a way of setting the location in the mount rather than the light. That way if an important one dies you can just move another etc. PS looks cool.

Ian McM August 14, 2024

This is ridiculumosly small!

Mark August 14, 2024

A gopro/action camera mount option for head unit mounts, and a clip mount for saddle bags would be nice options.

Anders August 14, 2024

I would love these for my daughter who doesn’t necessarily pay attention to whether she should turn the lights on or not. Does it turn on in the dark.?

Interested in more info and the early bird discount for the firefly mini as well please. Also didn’t find the link 😅🙈.

Sebastian August 09, 2024

Exciting news! Will you offer trade ins for the new lights and mounts? And charging pads? How will the actual battery life compare with use on longer rides? Thanks!

Eric August 09, 2024

I’m also interested in battery life of the mini… the regular ones last darn good but a smaller form with less than half the size of battery… I mean if it’s smaller that might mean less bulb to power but I know y’all like being seen well… Hmm 🤔 🤨 🧐 Your other things really have killed it tho, so colour me interested!

I think mini is a great idea.

Alvin Jackson August 07, 2024

Will these be compatible with previous helmet that held the firefly? It seems as it will not. Furthermore, will you tell us it’s battery life in all available modes? Thirdly, will it work with the charge pad that the Firefly works with? Lastly, How soon do you anticipate this to come out?

Joshua August 07, 2024

Hi Eu-wen,

How do I sign up for the firefly mini waitlist?

Will the mini be able to charge on the charge pad, or will a new version designed for the mini be required?

Cheers

hi

good to hear from you. am interested in the firefly mini but am wondering if it can be easily mounted onto front aero handlebars? because i have the original firefly lights and because they are so chunky, it is stopping me from upgrading my bike to an aero bike as a result of mounting issues
when will the new model of the lumos kickstart helmet come out?
